Fundraising Events

MUM golf tournament

The Midge Underwood Memorial Golf Outing is held in August at the Sycamore Park District golf course. The 12th Annual MUM Golf Tournament was rained out, but over 100 people still came for dinner and to participate in raffle drawings, raising over $11,000. Since its inception the golf tournament has raised more than $222,500 for DeKalb County Hospice. Coordinating the event each year are LPGA teaching professional Sandy Underwood and Mary Underwood Curran.

MUM is held in memory of their mother Midge and father Miles, both golfers who introduced Sandy and Mary to the sport of golf. A Hospice patient, Midge died of cancer in the spring of 1998. Miles, also a Hospice patient, died in late 2008. Watch for information on the 2010 event.

Tag Day

Springtime at Hospice means it is time for our annual Tag Day Fundraiser. This event is alway held the second Friday and Saturday in May. At very little cost and lots of energy, volunteers from all over DeKalb County accept donations and distribute tags at local businesses. Tag Day performs an important public relations function. People in the community see and talk to DeKalb County Hospice volunteers and learn more about the mission of DCH. They learn that those of us who are involved with DCH are approachable, kind, smiling people who are committed to helping others in many ways.

Musical Fundraiser

Our music fundraiser will be held April 24th, 2010. It promises to be a great event with music for every-one. More information will be coming in the next months.

Bed & Breakfast Sweepstakes

For the past 21 years we have held a Bed and Breakfast sweepstakes during the summer. In addition to our popular grand prize we have many additional prizes to offer. Merchants and individuals in the community generously donated these additional prizes and we thank them for their continued support.

The grand prize is a night at the Fargo Mansion Inn in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. This beautiful Victorian mansion offers breakfast, whirlpool for two, and a private second story balcony in its E.J Fargo Room. It also includes a dinner for two at Joseph Megaan's Restaurant and $100.00 for other expenses.
