Bereavement : About Grief and Mourning
Grief is the internal response that you experience following the death of someone loved. Those experiences may involve thoughts, feelings, reactions and situations that occur on an emotional level, physical level, social level and spiritual level.
Natural grief responses may include...
- Deep & overwhelming sorrow
- Guilt
- Anger
- Loneliness
- Change in appetite
- Change in sleep patterns
- Decreased ability to concentrate
- Apathy or lack of interest in usual activities of enjoyment
- Feelings of not belonging
- Questioning life and purpose
- Fear
- Physical aches & pains
- Isolation
- And more...
You may experience some of these listed and others not listed. All are a very natural expression of the wound that exists in your life. You may experience these more than once and quite possibly at varying degrees of intensity. The most intense pain that is felt early in the grief journey does lessen as time moves forward, as you begin to find your way in the world again.
