Caregivers : Caring for Yourself
Being a Caregiver to someone facing a life-limiting illness is not something for which most of us are prepared.
A good first step is to understand what you don't know, and also to understand that it's going to require some help. Being a caregiver is often times not the only responsibility we have.
Access to helpful resources can often make a big difference, for care receivers and caregivers.
As caregivers of an enrollee in our program, the care team can help cope with the challenges that you will face. Your nurses and social workers can assist you in developing a plan to arrange your needed resources, and often times can coordinate resources of other community partners that can be of help.
Knowledge is powerful for caregivers, and some of the best information resources we have found for Caregivers is provided through the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organizations consumer website, www.CaringInfo.org.
