VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are a vital part of the Hospice team. There are a variety of needs to be met. A volunteer for DeKalb County Hospice gives freely of their time and dollars to help enhance the quality of life by alleviating the fear, pain and loneliness associated with dying, death and bereavement. Volunteers assist in meeting the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones as well as the administrative needs of the organization. Volunteering is fulfilling and rewarding. Hospice appreciates the time and skill that you may offer. Some of the many services that Hospice volunteers provide include:

  • Emotional support to the patient and their family
  • Homemaker assistance such as meal preparation, laundry, etc.
  • Respite care
  • Personal services such as reading, visiting, writing letters, etc.
  • Patient care with appropriate training/license.
