Hospice Professionals on a Mission to Serve
Show Your Thanks to World War II Vets
by Watching This 2 minute video!
Today, one in four dying Americans is a veteran. These men and women often carry experiences from their military service that present unique challenges at the end of life.
DeKalb County Hospice has joined in the National Hospice and Palliative Care's new project in performance of a contract with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs designed to empower professionals to meet the unique needs of dying veterans. The program teaches respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement - to comfort patients with a history of military service and possibly physical or psychological trauma.
DeKalb County Hospice will be developing new programs to reach out to the veterans in our service area. Watch for further information on this website or our Facebook. You can also go to www.wehonorveterans.org for further information on this timely initiative.
As Memorial Day approaches, thoughts turn to those who have served our nation. A poignant online video created to honor WWII Veterans is gaining lots of "likes" on Facebook.
